Multiple Teeth Implant
Dental implants have revolutionized dentistry and offer the best option for patients with missing teeth. With new technology, New Heights Dental & Braces can implant an entire set of new upper or lower teeth in one day.
Who Should Get Dental Implants?
There are several requirements to getting dental implants, and while it's an excellent option for patients who are missing one or all their teeth, it's not for everyone. To have a successful dental implant surgery, a patient needs enough bone structure in his or her jaw, so the implant can work as designed.
Additionally, there may be other procedures that are required to prepare the gums and bone for implant surgery, such as extraction of decayed teeth. We will discuss your oral health and whether you are a good candidate for dental implants or not.
Types of Dental Implants
Most dental implants work the same way. Depending on which tooth needs to be replaced, the shape of the titanium screw may be different, but the process to install them in the jawbone is the same. There are single or multiple teeth implants.
Dental Implants Procedure
A dental implant consists of a screw made of titanium, which bonds with natural bone, and the crown attached to a connector that holds the implant in place. The first part of the surgery consists of placing the screws that will anchor the implant in the jawbone. The recovery after this surgery usually lasts between two to six months. We can send you home with a temporary replacement, so you can eat and speak in the meantime.
Once you recover, you will come back for the second part of the surgery so that we can attach the connector. You will need a couple of weeks to recover from this procedure, and now you are ready for the crowns that will become your natural teeth. This is the last stage of the process.
We also have dental implants that are built in one piece and can be done in a single visit as an option available to our patients. This is a simpler surgery that can be done in one day without the need to come in for multiple appointments and wait for recovery.
Multiple Teeth Implant
What we call a one-stage surgery can be done when replacing one or more teeth with an implant. The only time this can happen is if the tooth that is removed is not impacted or infected. Molars have two roots and can only be implanted in two phases.
If you are missing all your lower or upper teeth, we have a technology called All-on-4® Treatment Concept implants, in which four screws anchor the entire upper or lower implant. We will always try to put in the least number of implants when possible. This allows the patient to heal faster.
Not all patients are candidates for one or multiple dental implants. If you currently wear a partial or dentures and are interested in having a more permanent solution for your dental problems, call us New Heights Dental & Braces at (210) 828-5300 to schedule a consultation and review your history and current oral health.
